Researcher, editor, director, finisher and photographer. Born in Ceará, he is in the process of completing his doctorate in Visual Arts at the School of Fine Arts at UFRJ, with a sandwich doctorate between the Film Studies Center (FSC) at Harvard University and the Department of Anthropology at Columbia University.
His research interests include the study of images, energy, photographic and audiovisual collections, as well as issues linked to ecology and artistic processes.
His authorial works include short films and video installations shown at film festivals and exhibitions inside and outside Brazil, such as Revolver (FIDOCS 2019), 26 Postcards for Tip (Honorable mention at the 1666 Festival), Viventes (Berlinale, 2015), Entretempos (International Short Film Festival Oberhausen 2016).
He was an assistant to filmmaker Agnès Varda during her stay in Fortaleza, when she gave a conference and premiered her film The Beaches of Agnès. He participated in the installation Labor in a Single Shot, by Harun Farocki and Antje Hemman with five short films.
His editing partnerships include films such as Reflexo do Lago (Fernando Segtowick, Berlinale 2020), Death dwells at night (Eduardo Morotó, IFFR 2020), Chão (Camila Freitas, Berlinale 2019), Sol Alegria (Tavinho Teixeira, IFFR 2018), Once Upon a Time in Brasília (Adirley Queirós, Locarno 2017), Elon does not believe in death (Ricardo Alvez Jr. IFFR 2017), Corpo Elétrico (Marcelo Caetano, IFFR 2017), Nada É (dir. Yuri Firmeza, Bienal de São Paulo 2014) . Reflexo do Lago, Sol Alegria and Nada É also had their completion, among other films.
His awards include Tremor, by Ricardo Alves Jr. (Best Editing at the 46th Brasília Festival) and Nada É, by Yuri Firmeza (Ricardo Miranda award for Invention Editing at the 6th Directors' Week and Sound Design at the 9th CineMúsica), among others.
His experience in training processes includes classes as a temporary professor of editing and sound subjects at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), in addition to free courses at various institutions. He worked with public schools throughout Brazil through the Inventar com a Diferença project (Universidade Federal Fluminense - UFF) and with peasant movements in the Projeto Vidas Paralelas (University of Brasília - UNB). One of the founding members of the Alumbramento collective.
